Well, the fog has lifted. The sickness fog, that is! :) I woke up this morning feeling semi back to normal, and more importantly, well enough to finally hit the gym! I still wanted to take it easy on cardio (lungs and nose aren’t 100% yet) so I¬†completed a 30 minute Total Body Workout which incorporated the following circuit:

  • 1 arm weight lifting circuit
  • 15 lunges each leg, holding 8lb weights in each hand
  • 15 squats, holding a 12lb weight
  • 30 second wall sit
  • 30 crunches with legs bent at 90 degrees
  • 30 bicycle crunches

Repeat the circuit 3 times. This took me exactly 30 minutes, then I hopped over to the treadmill where I walked at 3.5mph and 3% incline for 15 minutes.

WHEW! It felt so good to get back in the gym, get my heart rate up and generally stop feeling so bleh. I’m a firm believer that not working out regularly makes you feel bleh anyways, so to add bleh to bleh = not good. Know what I mean? ;) Plus this workout, while not cardio intensive, kicked butt! My thighs are like jello¬†right now.

I think I’m going to try and get back down to the gym during lunch for a short walk. I definitely think that overdoing it while you’re sick is an invitation to wear your weary body down even more, but I’m coming out of the “fog” and I think light exercise is o.k. at this point. Can’t wait to get a good run in, though! In time… :)

Well I’m still riding the baked oatmeal train for breakfast – today I made Baked Banana & Almond Butter Oatmeal!

In the mix:

  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1 banana (half mashed, half sliced)
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened vanilla almond breeze
  • cinnamon
  • almond butter

Mix oats, mashed banana, almond breeze and cinnamon. Bake at 375 degrees for 10 minutes. Slice other half of banana on top, drizzle with almond butter and bake for 10 more minutes.

I just literally can’t get enough almond butter and bananas! The combo, like yogurt and bananas, is classic. The best. :D You’ve GOT to try this!

For lunch I packed some Mexican Tofu & Rice Slow Cooker Soup leftovers.

I can’t believe I waited this long to incorporate more tofu into my life. I’ve read articles before about the negative effects of too much soy in one’s diet – but like in most cases, when consumed in moderation, I think I’ll be just fine!

Plus I already have another idea for the leftover tofu cubes in my fridge. :) But, oh right, the soup! Again, really unique and worth a try, I think!

Time to buckle down, start my little space heater (the wind chill is -9!) and get to work. Have a great day everyone!

It’s take yo’ pick of question day!
